The Afternoon Tea experience in Singapore

The Afternoon Tea experience in Singapore

I love having tea in a quiet and nicely decorated environment. If it comes with cakes, even better! I’ve been to various tea houses before and I will share more about my past experience and then about the Afternoon Tea experience in Singapore. For tea and sweets lovers, it’s a great experience.

What is the Afternoon Tea?

I only found out about this after moving to London. In London there are dozens of places, many hotels, restaurants and bakeries offer the Afternoon Tea experience, or High Tea.

The English Afternoon Tea comes with a three level plate. On the bottom level has savories, usually small sandwiches. On the middle level scones (a kind of sweet bread) with cream and jam. On last level, and the best, the cakes. This is usually to share between two, together with a selection of teas and drinks to choose from.

The usual time for having Afternoon Tea is between 2pm and 6pm, but depends on the place. You may also want to book in advance.

Is Afternoon Tea only in the UK?

No, nowadays you can find Afternoon Tea in any city. They are very diverse, themed, that you don’t know anymore what is tradition and what is new.

I’ve been to a few tea houses in China too. I had a different Afternoon Tea experience there, as the focus was on the tea making. I went to a tea house looking like a greenhouse in the middle of the garden, all surrounded my plants. The host showed me how she prepares the tea and then served me. There were cakes or biscuits options on a side.

Afternoon Tea in Singapore

I went to Pan Pacific for my Afternoon Tea in Singapore because I like their idea of Peranakan Afternoon Tea experience. The desserts look very colourful, but it’s not a typical taste.
