Afternoon tea is a well-known British tradition, no introduction needed. I’ve never had it before moving to London. This year though, I decided to have an “afternoon tea birthday”.
To begin with, I see afternoon tea as a nice activity to catch up with close friends, while enjoying tea and sweet treats. So I invited a few friends to L’afternoon Tea – Afternoon tea with a French twist at B Bakery. Imagine a combination between afternoon tea and French bakery, in a chic venue in Covent Garden. I think it’s a very cool idea.
We started chatting, but I soon got distracted by the gorgeous teacups.
Aaand more distraction… The cakes not only look cute, but they are very tasty as well.
For the Traditional Afternoon Tea, you start with a variety of cakes and sandwiches. After some time, they will bring fresh scones with cream and strawberry jam. Tea accompanies you the whole time and goes well with all the goodies. I’m keeping it simple, but here is the full menu.
And if this was not sweet enough, I also got a birthday cake!
Didn’t realize when the time has passed, and the bakery was almost closing. I don’t know if it was the atmosphere, the nice company, the tasty cakes or sipping from those gorgeous tea cups… or all together. I loved it and definitely recommend it.
PS: It doesn’t have to be a birthday, any excuse will do.
